Veneers

Porcelain veneers

Porcelain veneers may be used to improve the colour size and shape of teeth.  As with crowns a large variety of shades are available. They usually require a little reduction of the front face of the tooth. Impressions or moulds are taken of the teeth and sent to the lab. Temporary veneers are then placed whilst the lab manufactures the final veneers. On a second appointment they are cemented into place. Porcelain has the advantage of a smooth stain resistant surface. It is also good for covering up discolouration or dark teeth.

Composite veneers

These are constructed of composite resin filling material and only require one appointment. Often these may be placed without removing any of the underlying tooth which is a big advantage.  Again we have a wide range of shades for this material. It is much easier to repair than porcelain in the event of breakage. We often use tooth whitening in conjunction with composite veneers to improve the appearance of teeth.

Whitening

Tooth whitening is often an excellent way of improving the appearance of teeth.  After taking impressions we provide thin custom trays. These may be filled with whitening gel and worn for as little as thirty minutes a day.  The level of whitening depends on the number of days that the gel is applied. Most people achieve a good result in around two weeks.  As you are in control of the process you are able to monitor progress and stop when the desired tooth shade is reached. You are also able to concentrate on any darker teeth to gain an even result.  The trays may then be kept for further top ups in years to come.
